Youth Hostels in Slovenia

If you want to save on accommodation and don't mind basic facilities and less privacy than look for lodgings in Slovenia's numerous youth hostels.

If you look for something weird stay at the famous Celica Hostel in Ljubljana a prison-turned-into-youth hostel. Even its name reflects the building's original function because Celica means cell. Due to its popularity reserve you nights at Ljubljan's Celica well in advance. Rooms are still called cells and the bars are still on the doors and on the windows to keep the ambience real (and spooky).

A night in a cell costs around 20 € (+ - 2-5 € depending on season) which includes a buffet breakfast, clean bedlinen and towels.

Other Youth hostels in Slovenia offer the same prices for a room/night. if you're really have to penny pinch than share larger room with other travellers. This way you can saveup to 5 €/night.

In some larger hostels, like the Celica you can have great food for cheap in the canteen area or you can use the kitchen to prepare your meals.

Student dormitories are also good cheap accommodation options in Slovenia though they offer beds only during the summer break in July and in August. You'll pay around 10 € for a bed in a dorm and cc. 30 € for a single room with bathroom.
