Safety in Slovenia
Slovenia is a relatively safe country. Crime rate is low. According to police statistics 90% of all reported crimes is theft. Take the usual safety precautions and you'll have no problem. Watch out for purse and wallet snatchers in busy palces like train and bus stations, shopping centres. Don't leave your belongings unattended while hiking or while on the beach. Don't walk at night in unlit, abandoned areas. Avoid drunks and beggars (though probably you won't met many, mainly in the capital and in larger towns.) Bigger problem is drunks behind the wheel especially on holidays like New Years, Easter, or around St Martin's Day (11th November, the day when the new wine is celebrated and tasted). Gays and LesbiansSlovenia has a gay rights law in effect that bans dsicrimination based on one's sexual pereference. Though there's no large gay community or vibrant gay life gays and lesbians can feel at ease in Slovenia. In case of emergency call the appropriate number (save them in your mobile phone's memory):
