Cheap Flights to Slovenia

As Slovenia becomes fashionable tourist destination in Central Europe more and more airlines launch cheap flights to Ljubljana or Maribor.

Three main low cost airlines operate flights directly to Slovenia: Ryanair, Easyjet and Wizzair but they currently fly only from two countries England and Belgium.

I'm sure that more low cost airlines will catch up on the popularity of Slovenia as a tourist destination and they will launch direct flights to the country.

Cheap Flights to Slovenia from the United Kingdom

Easyjet flights depart from London's Stansted airport and land at Ljublana's Brnik airport (that the current government renamed to Joze Pucnik Airport in 2007). Ryanair also has a budget flight to Slovenia, between London-Stansted and Maribor. Wizzair has flights between London's Luton airport and Ljubljana. Flight time between London-Ljubljana is cc. 2 hours and 15 min.

Cheap Flights to Slovenia from Brussels, Belgium

Wizzair operates a low cost flight from Brussels to Ljubljana airport.

Other Non-direct Budget Flights to Slovenia

You' have other option sthough if you want to save on air tickets. Cheap airlines operate flights to major cities in Italy, Austria, Croatia and Hungary.

Ryanair flights to Trieste and Venice. from there you can get to Slovenia by car bus or train (it takes roughly 2 hours to get to Ljubljana). Easyjet has a flight to Rijeka in Croatia, while Wizzair flys to Zagreb the Croatian capital. From there you can easily reach the Slovenia coast, the Karst region in Dolenjska and even Ljubljana.

Those heading for the coast can also fly form London-Stansted to Pula in Croatia with Ryanair.

If your destination is in the northwesten part of Slovenia (Kranjska Gora, Bled and Bohinj in Triglav National Park) then it's a good option to book a flight with Ryanair from Stansted to Klagenfurt, a neat town accross the border with Austria.

To get to the eastern and north east regions of Slovenia, like Prekmurje take a Ryanair flight from London-Stansted to either Lake Balaton in Hungary or Graz in Austria.

The national carrier Adria Aiways has flight connections to all major European cities (Frankfurt, Munich, Vienna, Zurich, Brussels, Paris, Barcelona, London, Pargue).

Flights to Slovenia from the US

Unfortunately there's no direct flight service to Slovenia from the USA. You can flight to one of the major western Europen cities by one of the US airlines and from there you can take an Adria Airways flight to Ljubljana. If you fly to London from there you can take one of the budget airlines to Slovenia listed above. (it'll take you approx. 10-12 hours to get to Slovenia including transfer).

Slovenia's second largest international airport is the Maribor Airport. Ryanair flies there three times a week (Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays) from London Stansted. many charter flights also land at Maribor Airport.
