Best Time to Visit Slovenia

Spring is a very nice season in Slovenia especially April and May when colourful wild flowers bloom everywhere on the lush highland meadows. If you're budget conscious then this time of the year is perfect for a visit because of off-season rates.

If you want to do hiking and trekking in the Slovene Alps time your visit between May-September when weather is a bit drier than let's say in March-April. This is also the best time for camping on the neat campsites of Slovenia.

With the approach of long hot summer days more and more events take place at the major tourist destinations, like the Ljubljana Summer Festival or the Primorska Summer Festival in July-August on the Adriatic Coast. The Mediterranean climate on the Slovenia coast along the make the sultry days enduarable.

If you want to stay away form the wave of tourists than wait for September-October to visit Slovenia. By this time kids are back to school, families return to their home country from their summer holidays and low season tariffs come into effect again. In September the sea is usually still warm enough to go for swimming.

October is beautiful with the foliage turning a vibrant colour of red, orange, and yellow. Until mid-October you can still enjoy plenty of sunshine during the day so hiking is an attractive activity.

In November days become cold, foggy and rainy though you can indulge in the thermal pools of the many Slovenian spa resorts.
