Staying in Apartments in Slovenia

A good and money-saving alternative to hotels is accommodation in private apartments in Slovenia. There are plenty of private rooms you can book online but if you venture on your Slovenia vacation without previously arranging for accommodation look for signs advertising "sobe" (means room), "apartma" or "zimmer frei" along the road. However if you travel to Slovenia in high season (July-August) book your accommodation in advance. Make sure you know the exact location of the room or apartment you want to rent because some of them are a bit far form the city centres.

Prices of Apartments in Slovenia

A 1-4-star rating system is used for the classification of private rooms and apartments. A 1-star room has only running water in the room and bathroom & toilet on the corridor. 2-star room have their own shower/bathroom. 3-star establishments offer more comfortale furnishings, TV and breakfast, and bathroom adjacent to the room. 4-star apartments have larger rooms and nice views.

Prices vary greatly according to season and place. Expect to pay 30-50% more if you stay only for three nights. Breakfast (if available) is not included in prices of private rooms, it costs and extra 5 €. Tourist tax is also added to the price.

Depending on the size of the apartment, the season and the popularity of the area expect to pay around 50-200 €/day. A breakfast of bread, spreads, cold cuts, cheese with hot drinks is usualyl included or can be requested for a reasonable fee. Private rooms are cheaper with prices between 20-50 €/night.
